Adai

Method

Step 1: Soak rice and dhals (Grams) together in enough water for about five to seven hours. Then grind to a coarse and thick paste, adding by little water at a time. (The paste should have cake batter consistency).
Step 2: Chop onions, green chilies and curry leaves finely.
Step 3: Add greated coconut, salt asafetida, red chillies and add finely chopped ingredients into a ground paste.
Step 4: Heat dosa tawa and grease it and put I cup of batter into the pan, spread it with the back of a spoon to cover the entire pan. (Adai should be thicker than dosa)
Step 5: Dribble a tsp of oil evenly over the adai. Cook it becomes brown on bothsides.
Step 6: Serve hot with coconut chutney and coriander chutney.

  • Rice - 2 cups
  • Bengal gram - 1/2cup
  • Black gram - 1/2 cup
  • Thauvar dhal - 1/2 cup (Red gram)
  • Green chillies - 2
  • Red chillies - 2 (Broken)
  • Asafoetida - A pinch
  • Curry leaves - little
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coconut - 1/4 cup (Grated)
