Avalamrutha

Beaten rice or poha is commonly used as a savoury or in payasam. This is an attractive dish with cashew nuts and raisins.

  • Method

    Step 1: Soak beaten rice for 1 hour. Take milk in a thick bottomed vessel, let it boil. Add cardamom, cashew nuts and raisins and powdered jaggery.
    Step 2: When the syrup is ready, add rinsed, beaten rice, coconut and cook for 2 minutes. Add ghee and mix well.
    Step 3: Serve when it gets cold.

  • Beaten rice or Avalakki - 3 katoris
  • Jaggery - 1 katoris
  • Coconut or Dry copra - 1/2 katori
  • Milk - 1 and 1/2 katoris
  • Cardamom - 1 tbsp
  • Cashew nut and Raisins - 1/2 katori
  • Ghee - 1/2 katori
