Bagghar-E-Chawwal- Seasoned Rice

Method

Step 1: Slice onion and cook until golden brown in oil or margarine.
Step 2: Add rice, garlic powder, ginger and salt.
Step 3: Cook until light brown in oil with continuous stirring.
Step 4: When rice mixture forms lumps, add water.
Step 5: Lower heat and add cloves, cardamoms and cinnamon sticks.
Step 6: Cover and cook until tender.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cup of rice
  • 1/3 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2/3 teaspoon ginger
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 cup of water
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 2 cardamoms
  • 1 cinnamon stick (1 or 2 inches long)
