Bengal Gram Dhal Curry

Step 1: Clean and wash dhal with enogh salt water, to cover in a vessel & pressure cook till soft.
Step 2: Grind half into a paste, mix 3 to 4 cups of water
Step 3: Grind onions and fresh coconut, green chillies into a paste.
Step 4: Chop tomatoes finely.
Step 5: Cut paneer into cubes and deep fry in oil.
Step 6: Heat oil in a pan, fry the ground paste till brown. Add tomatoes and all spice powders with enough salt.
Step 7: Cook for few minutes then add dhal and cook till a little thick. Add paneer cubes and cook for 2 more minutes.
Step 8: Finely add dry coconut just before removing from fire.
Step 9: Garnish with coriander leaves.

Ingredients

  • Bengal gram dhal - 2 cups
  • Paneer - 50 gms
  • Onion - 2 midium
  • Tomato 1 medium
  • Dry coconut - 2 tbsp (powder)
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chillies - 2 or 3
  • Fresh coconut - 1 tbsp (grated)
  • Coriander leaves 1 tbsp (chopped)
  • Oil for deep - frying
  • Salt to taste
