Channa Dhalpulao

Method

Step 1: Heat oil in a pressure pan, pepper, cloves, cardamoms, cinnamon, cumin seeds and green chillies, stir fry for a minute.
Step 2: Add bengal gram, stir fry for about 2 minutes.
Step 3: Add rice stir fry again till rice turns opaque. Add salt 4 1/2 cups of fresh water.
Step 4: Close cooker, bring to full pressure or until 2 whistles.
Step 5: Fluff up the rice gently with fork to separate grains.
Step 6: Serve hot with kurma or sag. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Ingredients

  • Rice - 2 and 1/2 cups
  • Channa (Bengal gram) - 1 and 1/2 cups
  • Green chillies - 3
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Black pepper - 6
  • Cardamoms - 4
  • Cloves - 4
  • Cinnamon - 1 inch stick
  • Oil - 6 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves - little
  • Salt to taste
