Chatpata Channa Masala

Method

Step 1: Soak channa over night with a little soda bi - carbonate and enough water. Wash well and drain the water and keep aside.
Step 2: Peel potatoes and cut into cubes.
Step 3: Grind first tomatoes at the end the other ingredients.
Step 4: Heat oil and fry the kabuli channa and potatoes for 5 minutes.
Step 5: Add ground mixture, saute well pour enough water and salt.
Step 6: Cover and pressure cook till done.
Step 7: Dissolve flour in 1/4 cup of water and curds to a smooth paste and add to the pan.
Step 8: Sprinkle little sugar add cooked mixture and keep simmer on low heat till the mixture almost dry and coasted in masala mixture.
Step 9: Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

Ingredients

  • White Kabuli channa - 1 cup
  • Potatoes - 2
  • Flour - 1 and 1/2 tbsp
  • Curds - 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Grind together

  • Fresh grated coconut - 1 cup
  • Red chillies - 6
  • Dhania - 1 and 1/2 tbsp
  • Pepper - 6
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Star anise powder - 1 and 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Tomatoes - 2
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves - small bunch
