Gheer Rice with Milk

Method

Step 1: Wash the rice and soak in water for 20 minutes.
Step 2: Dice all the vegetables into 1/2 inch length wise.
Step 3: Chop onion finely
Step 4: Heat ghee in a pressure pan, add cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms, chopped onions and green chillies, fry for a minute.
Step 5: Add diced vegetable, green peas, stir fry for a minute.
Step 6: Add fresh milk and coconut milk with 1 and 1/2 cups of fresh water and keep under medium flame till one boil the mixture.
Step 7: Grease little ghee or oil cooking bowl, transfer to the one boiled vegetables, salt and soaked rice in the greased cooking bowl, stir it.
Step 8: Cover lid and bring it to 2 whistles.
Step 9: Open lid and stir gently the cooked rice mixture and over the gheer rice.
Step 10: Serve hot with crispy pappad.

  • Rice - 3 cups
  • Fresh milk - 1 cup
  • Fresh coconut milk - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1
  • Green peas - 1 cup
  • Cauliflower - 100 gms
  • Fresh beans - 100 gms
  • Carrots - 2
  • Green chillies - 4
  • Cinnamon - 1 inch piece
  • Cloves - 4
  • Cardamoms - 4
  • Ghee - 3 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
