Green Gram Instant Bhath

Method

Step 1: Soak green gram in water for 1/2 an hour.
Step 2: Wash the rice and soak in water for 20 minutes.
Step 3: Chop onions, tomatoes and slit green chillies finely.
Step 4: Heat oil in a pan, add cinnamon, cloves, onions green chillies, fry till onions are soft and add finely tomatoes, stir fry till tomatoes soft.
Step 5: Now add soaked rice and green gram and fry for a minute.
Step 6: In a pressure pan put all the ingredients, salt and 5 cups of water.
Step 7: Cook till 2 whistles or 10 minutes, remove from fire and cool naturally.
Step 8: Now pour ghee and pepper powder, cumin powder in cooked rice and stir and mix gently.
Step 9: Serve hot with coconut chutney.

Ingredients

  • Rice - 2 cups
  • Green gram (Whole) - 1 and 1/2 cup
  • Onions - 2
  • Tomatoes - 2
  • Green chillies - 4
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cloves - 4
  • Cinnamon - 1 small stick
  • Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves - little
