Kidney Beans Curry

Method

Step 1: Soak beans over night before cooking. Cook for 20 minutes in pressure cooker with some soaked water strain and reserve the water.
Step 2: Pour oil or ghee in a pan fry the ground mixture. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and fry well.
Step 3: When the ghee separates from the masala add the tomatoes cook till tomatoes are pulpy and oil shows separately.
Step 4: Add boiled beans and enough water in it (preserved water), cook for few minutes, stir well remove from the fire.
Step 5: While serving sprinkle garam masala powder, coriander leaves. Serve hot.

Ingredients

  • Kidney beans - 1/4 kg
  • Ghee or oil - 3 tbsp
  • Tomatoes - 3 (chop finely)
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Dhania powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Grind into coarse past

  • Onions - 2
  • Ginger - 1 small piece
  • Garlic - 6 flakes
  • Coconut - 1/2 cup (grated)
  • Green chillies - 2
