Spicy Banana Curry

Method

Step 1: Peel raw bananas and cut into 2 long pieces.
Step 2: Deep - fry them slightly, keep aside to cool.
Step 3: Make a fine paste of onions and ginger.
Step 4: Blanch the tomatoes and pass through a sieve to take out the fine pulp.
Step 5: Heat ghee or oil in a pan, fry the onion - genger past till light brown.
Step 6: Add dhania powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder, tomato pulp and whipped curd and stir well.
Step 7: Fry the masalas well, by adding milk 2.3 times.
Step 8: when the masala leaves the oil, add salt and 1 and 1/2 cup of water for gravy.
Step 9: Allow to simmer on law flame for about 10 minutes
Step 10: When the gravy becomes a bit thick, add fried bananas carefully and keep simmer again 5 minutes more
Step 11: Remove from fire, Garnish with coriander leaves and raisins, with garam masala powder
Step 12: Serve with rice or roti.
Step 13: Tamarind extract can be substituted in place of curd.

Ingredients

  • Raw bananas - 4
  • Onions - 2
  • Tomatoes - 2 Medium
  • Curd - 1/2 cup (whipped)
  • Fresh milk - 1/2 cup
  • Ginger - small pice
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Raisins - 1 tpsp
  • Ghee or oil - 2 tpsp
  • Salt - as required
  • Oil for deep - frying
