Mochai Masala Sundal

Ingredients:

  • Mochai (field beans) – 500 gm
  • Salt – a handful
  • Chilli – 8
  • Saunf ( aniseed ) – 1 spoon
  • Clove – 4
  • Mustard – 2 spoon
  • Asafoetida – 1 small piece
  • Poppy seeds – a little
  • Cardamom – 6
  • Cashew – 5
  • Curry leaves – a few
  • Coconut – ½
  • Ginger – a small piece
  • Onion – 5

    Method:

    Step 1: Soak mochai in water overnight and boil the next day.
    Step 2: Heat oil in a frying pan.
    Step 3: Add poppy seeds, clove, saunf, fry and powder.
    Step 4: When mochai is cooked, add salt, stir and remove from the stove.
    Step 5: Cut onion, ginger, green chilli finely.
    Step 6: Grate coconut.
    Step 7: Strain water from mochai.
    Step 8: Heat a little oil in a frying pan.
    Step 9: Add mustard, chilli and fry.
    Step 10: When mustard splutters, add ginger, green chilli, onion and fry.
    Step 11: Add coconut and fry.
    Step 12: Add mochai, masala powder,asafoetida, curry leaves, stir and remove the pan from the stove.
